‘3 Idiots’ Should be Tax-free, Says Aamir

Aamir Khan Despite of the ragging incident in Maharashtra's Medical College, which was said to be inspired by the ragging scene in Aamir's latest film ”3 Idiots”, the actor says the movie should be made tax-free because it gave a positive message and protests ragging in the colleges.

The 44 year old actor told reporters, "I think the film should be exempted from tax, should be shown on Doordarshan (India’s state-owned television channel) and should be screened even in the villages, so that maximum number of people are able to see it, because it has a very positive message for children as well as their parents. It tells the children to become what they really want, and the parents not to put unnecessary pressure on their kids."

He also said, "I think there should be a debate on our education system and its pressures on our kids. Nothing is more important than a life. Union Minister Kapil Sibbal is doing good work in this regard and people should support him."

Clarifying the controversy over the ragging scene, Aamir said that it was very easy to create a controversy over anything. Explaining more, he said, "I did "Sarfarosh", which was against terrorism. However, you could create a controversy saying the film encouraged extremism. I want to clarify that ‘3 Idiots’ is anti-ragging, and does not glorify ragging."
