After two back to back big releases like "Dostana" and "Wake Up Sid", Dharma Productions is all set to release their third venture "Kurbaan". The film, directed by Rensil D' Silva, is releasing on 20th November. Previously, Rensil has written the story for blockbuster film "Rang De Basanti".
The film stars Kareena Kapoor as the lead protagonist along with her beau Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kiron Kher and Om Puri. This is Rensil's debut film as a director. The story has been penned by Karan Johar. The music of the film has been given by Salim-Sulaiman. The lyrics are given by Prasoon Joshi.
Though the content and the theme are quite similar with Aamir-Kajol starrer "Fanna" but the film is promising to be unique. The movie is based on the backdrop of Global Terrorism.
The story revolves around two characters Avantika and Ehsaan(respectively played by Kareena and Saif). Avantika is a professor in Delhi University. She comes back in India from New York (there she teaches) due her father's heart attack. Here, she meets a part-time professor Ehsaan Khan. They fall in love with each other in a very short period of time. A few months later, Avantika receives a call from her university in New York, asking her to come back for the Fall Semester. Avantika informs the news to Ehsaan. He tells her that he wants to come with her in New York, but they first need to marry.
They buy a house in an Indian neighborhood in New York. The couple gets friendly with their conservative Muslim Neighbors, Hamid and Anjum. They are invited by the families. The next morning, Salma, one of the women Avantika met the night before at the dinner, visits her under the pretext of gifting her sweets. Salma tells her that she is in danger and pleads for help. What follows next, is a series of incidents that sucks Avantika into a vortex of danger and conspiracy. Soon, she realizes that she has been trapped and thus her journey of survival starts till end.
The fate of the 2 hours 37 minutes long film will be known on 20th November when the film releases worldwide.
