According to buzzhollywood.com, The 72 year old actor had served as mechanic in US Air Force between 1955 and 1959. Freeman started taking lessons in flying in 2002. Though he is not yet certified to fly alone but he has purchased his first plane.
The excited Morgan told reporters, "I’m flying from here (US) to South Africa. Then, since we’ve got some business down there, we’re going to Botswana… then we’re going to go to Kenya, northern Kenya, because we’ve been invited to visit a local tribe. The reason we’re doing all this is because I’ve got my own plane. Brand new. Me and my co-pilot (will be flying it)."
When the reporters enquired the Academy Award winner actor freeman about his ability as a pilot, he said, "I started flying in 2002. I’ve got everything that the law requires (fitted to my plane)."
After John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank and supermodel Gisele Bundchen now Morgan Freeman has joined the celebrities flying bandwagon.
