Following the footsteps of his good friend Aamir Khan, Bollywood hunk Salman Khan is launching a nationwide hunt for unsung heroes.
The superstar turned 44 on Sunday, 27 December. To promote his forthcoming period film 'Veer', Salman has launched this show. Through the show, Salman wants to connect with the common people and search young men and women who have performed heroic deeds which the nation doesn’t know about.
According to a source, "Lately Salman has been going out of his way to connect with the masses. The idea to launch a contest on his birthday to search for unrecognised heroes came from Aamir Khan's recent connect-with-masses Bharat Darshan which he undertook as part of the promotion for ‘3 Idiots’."
The source added, "People close to Salman advised him to find a similar point of connectivity with the common man for Salman’s forthcoming film ‘Veer’. And what better occasion to show his affinity to the masses than his birthday?”
The producer of movie "Veer" confirmed Salman’s plans to search and celebrate the lives of unsung heroes from all over the country. He told reporters, "You've heard correctly. Salman is launching a contest to find real-life unsung heroes. Since he has played the hero so often on screen, he feels real-life heroes deserve to be brought out of anonymity. We’ll be going to the remotest corners of India to select these unknown heroes. Finally one of them will be given the ‘Veer’ cup personally by Salman at a function in Mumbai."
Salman is launching the show as his movie "Veer" is also about the bravery and courage of a Pindari soldiers who fight for Independence. The movie has been directed by Anil Sharma, along with Salman newcomer Zarine Khan is the main cast of the movie.
Former Miss UK, Lisa Lazarus, is also playing an important role. The other cast of the movie includes Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, Sohail Khan and Bharat Dabholkar.
